What is it & why do we exist?
A local Chamber of Commerce is many different things to many people. To some, it’s the vehicle that gives opportunities to businesses to sell their products and services. To others, it’s simply a way to get discounted worker’s compensation insurance. Our core constituents are businesses- small, medium and large – who need a return on their investment in order to be successful – in other words – profitable.
As a Chamber of Commerce, we are:
- An assembly of enterprising risk-takers, entrepreneurs and businesses
- A private business association – a 501-C-6
- Funded, directed, operated by and only accountable to its business member investors
- Focused on commerce and free-enterprise
- About the creation of capitol and wealth AND the source and resources that our public and non-profit entities need.
As a Chamber of Commerce, we are NOT:
- A public organization
- A charitable organization
- Answerable to the Ohio or U.S. Chambers of Commerce
- Surviving on contributions – we survive on non-deductable investments
The chamber’s concept is that the private sector creates the flow of resources through funding or donations and taxes that enable the public and non-profit sectors to do what they do and be most successful – ensuring the quality of life we expect. That can only happen when there are enough profitable businesses to make that happen. Without enough profitable businesses, the resources dry up and the quality of life goes down. The mission of a Chamber of Commerce is to ensure the success of those businesses.
The Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce, established in 1985, is a non-profit, voluntary organization of people working together to promote positive and productive relations among the businesses of the area, and between those businesses and the community itself.
Members of the Chamber come from a dedicated and aware group of civic-minded business leaders as well as men and women of our government and community. They care about Nordonia Hills and work together towards its positive growth and development.
The mission of the NHCOC is, very simply, “to promote our members through education, leadership and communication between business, government and our community”. We help to assure our businesses’ success by providing:
- Avenues to promote their business,
- Opportunities for members to network and enlarge their circle of contacts,
- Low-cost business-to-business advertising,
- Discount programs for everything from health insurance to auto repairs,
- And much more.
